Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI)
The Osteoarthritis Initiative is a multicenter longitudinal observational study developed to support research on the onset and progression of knee osteoarthritis. The resource contains clinical data, bilateral knee MRI and radiographs, additional joint imaging and derived image-analysis data collected across multiple follow-up visits.
Access to OAI images requires authentication through an NIH Research Auth Service identity and use of the data is subject to the applicable NDA and OAI access conditions.
The official cohort contains 4,796 participants. Imaging includes bilateral knee MRI and radiographs as well as hip, pelvis and hand radiographs, thigh MRI and full-limb MRI for knee alignment. A single total count of images or imaging series across all visits could not be verified. Quantitative and semiquantitative image-analysis data are available, but downloadable segmentation masks were not confirmed.
